Verification

Keep bots and raiders out. New members press Verify and prove they are a person before they get access to the rest of your server.

How members verify

Pick one of three modes on the Verification page:

Mode	What members do
Button puzzle	Press Verify, then pick everything of one kind (all the animals, all the fruits, ...) from eight buttons and press Check. It all happens in Discord, only they can see it, and there is nothing to set up
Adaptive	The button puzzle for most members. Accounts younger than 3 days get the web check instead
Web check	Every member finishes a Google reCAPTCHA in their browser. Needs your own reCAPTCHA keys

Press Watch an example on the page to see what a new member goes through with your settings, including changes you have not saved yet. Its switch shows the same members with verification off, without changing your settings.

A member who gets the puzzle wrong gets a new one. After three wrong answers they wait five minutes before they can try again. Without reCAPTCHA keys, the adaptive and web modes give everyone the button puzzle.

Setting up

1. Lock the server. Either hide your channels from @everyone and show them to a verified role, or keep @everyone and deny a pending role access. New members get the pending role when they join and lose it when they pass.
2. Pick the roles on the Verification page.
3. Post the panel. Pick a channel new members can see, write the title, message and button label, save, and press Post panel. Change the text later, save, and press Update panel to edit the same message.

Role hierarchy matters

Natsumi's role must sit above the verified and pending roles in your server's role list, or it cannot hand them out.

Requirements and timers

Setting	What it does
Minimum account age	Accounts younger than this many days are told to come back later. Checked for the web check too
Ping new members	Mentions new members in the panel channel so they know where to go. Removed once they verify
Remind after	Pings members who have not verified again, in the panel channel
Kick after	Kicks members who have not verified this long after joining

Pressing Verify again never moves the kick deadline; joining again starts it over.

Natsumi never sends verification DMs. Members who close their DMs to server members cannot get DMs from bots either, so everything happens in the panel channel: pings that mention the member, and replies only they can see.

Getting reCAPTCHA keys

Only needed for the adaptive and web modes.

1. Open the reCAPTCHA admin console at google.com/recaptcha/admin/create.
2. Register a site with reCAPTCHA v2 ("I'm not a robot" checkbox) and add natsumi.app to the allowed domains.
3. Copy both keys into the Web check card and save.

Logs and statistics

Set a log channel to get a message each time someone verifies, and each time someone is kicked for not verifying. The Statistics card shows how many members are waiting, how many verified, how many wrong puzzle answers there were, and how many were kicked.

Anti-raid

Verification stops bots one at a time. For a wave of accounts joining at once, turn on Anti-raid too: raiders it removes are never pinged in the verification channel.
